JetStor NAS RAID System Supports NAS, FC, and iSCSI with Non-Stop, High-Availability Design and Functionalities Like VAAI Support and Thin Provisioning
Pittsburgh, PA, February 10, 2014. AC&NC, a provider of leading RAID storage solutions, today introduced its JetStor NAS 1600S RAID array to provide the performance, scalability, and uncompromising data protection that enterprises of all sizes demand today. The NAS/Fibre Channel/iSCSI all-in-one solution utilizes the latest NAS 3.0 operating system to support advanced storage management and application functionality like VAAI, thin provisioning, replication, snapshots, and ultra-high availability. Thanks to its support of multiple interfaces, the platform can operate in any IT environment requiring robust, secure, and expandable data storage.
“The JetStor NAS 1600S solution is tailored for our age of big data when even smaller companies require storage that is scalable, smart, and function rich,” said Gene Leyzarovich, president of AC&NC. “The JetStor 1600S works in all of today’s diverse networks and data centers to address stringent demands from meeting SLAs and protecting vital data to transactional processing and big data jobs. With their advanced capabilities, they go beyond meeting performance objectives to improving efficiencies and reducing ownership costs.”
The 3U 16-bay JetStor 1600S chassis supports 3.5-inch SAS and SATA drives for up to 64 terabytes of storage. Users can further expand capacity by adding up to five optional JetStor JBOD (Just a Bunch of Disks) expansion chassis for a total of 384 terabytes of storage.
Increasing Productivity & Availability While Lowering Operational Costs
The JetStor 1600S unified RAID solutions improve the performance of virtual machines (VMs) by supporting VAAI (vStorage APIs for Array Integration) for block and NFS storage. VAAI offloads storage tasks from physical servers running VMware virtualization to the JetStor 1600S arrays, freeing up CPU cycles on the servers for running VMs. The RAID arrays also support thin provisioning for both file and block level volumes to reduce costs and better utilize storage capacity. The systems can notify users when storage capacity reaches preset thresholds and perform only reads when a volume reaches 95 percent of capacity.
The JetStor 1600S systems safeguard data by offering versatile back-up options. Depending on customer requirements, they can make full, differential, and incremental backups and restores via attached storage or remote shares and cloud storage, including Amazon S3. Users can flexibly schedule backups from as frequently as hourly to as infrequently as annually. Moreover, the JetStor 1600S platforms further protect data by supporting high-availability clusters comprised of up to three nodes of active/active storage, ensuring there is no service downtime should a NAS server fail.
The AC&NC solutions support nearly all RAID levels, which allows customers to tailor the systems to their demands for data protection or application performance. Users can designate multiple drives as hot-spares, which enables the platforms to transparently move data to a spare should an error be detected. Additionally, drives are hot-swappable with automatic rebuilding of data on new drives, permitting users to increase capacity and replace drives while data remains online.
The JetStor 1600S RAID arrays are engineered to require little time to administer and maintain, furthering trimming their ownership costs. They feature a browser-based, RAID management application with a graphical, simple-to-use interface that permits administrators to remotely configure and proactively manage the arrays. The software provides automatic email event notifications and simplifies deployment and configuration, even for beginning system administrators. What’s more, the platforms offer iOS and Android mobile applications that allow administrators to easily monitor them regardless of location.
The JetStor 1600S RAID solutions deliver robust design features like a cableless architecture, single or dual Intel Quad Core Xeon processors, 4GB cache that expands up to 32GB, and a redundant power supply module. They ship with a three-year warranty that covers all components.
