JetStor Certification Slashes Costs for Reliable, High-Performance, Shared Storage When Using Windows Server 2016
Pittsburgh, PA, June 16, 2017. AC&NC, a provider of leading RAID storage solutions, today announced that its JetStor 12G JBOD (just a bunch of disks) platforms have been certified by Microsoft for Storage Spaces in Windows Server 2016. Enterprises of all sizes can now use the highly reliable JetStor 12G solutions for their burgeoning storage needs rather than architecting SANs or NAS with expensive and proprietary arrays. By using innovative DataBolt technology, the JetStor 12G systems can deliver 12Gb/s performance to support even the most extraordinary storage applications, such as Hadoop deployments, while Storage Spaces provides the resiliency to safeguard business-critical data. The combination of the JetStor 12G JBODs and Storage Spaces offers a much needed alternative to traditional approaches for housing vast data troves, which have proven costly to build and complex to administer.

A feature on Microsoft Windows Server 2016, 2012, and 2012 R2, Storage Spaces allows organizations to easily virtualize shared storage for scalable provisioning and management. They can group standard disks—either mechanical or solid-state drives in cost-effective JBOD arrays—into virtualized storage pools. From the available capacity in the storage pools, they then can create virtual disks called Storage Spaces, which offer functionality to avoid data loss.
Economically Delivering Terabytes of Extremely Fast Storage
The JetStor 12G JBODs are 2U, 3U or 4U rackmount chassis that feature the latest SAS 3.0 12Gb/s interface. Their DataBolt technology removes the SAS limitations plaguing large storage arrays, making high-speed throughput affordable even for small businesses. Microsoft certified three models, each of which supports both SSD and SAS drives. The JetStor 816J and 824J4 systems support 2.5” and 3.5” drives. The JetStor 816J has 16 bays for as much as 160TB of storage, and the 824J4 has 24 bays for up to 240TB of storage. The JetStor 824J supports 2.5” drives and features 24 bays for up to 46TB of capacity.
All drives are hot-swappable and data are automatically rebuilt on new drives. Multiple drives can be designated as hot-spares to allow the solutions to transparently move data to spares should errors be detected. Capacity can be increased and drives replaced while data remains online.
The JetStor 12G JBOD systems are engineered for non-stop operation with a fully cableless design. They feature dual hot-swappable power supplies with integrated turbo-cooling and separate power connections, and dual hot-swappable controllers. Moreover, they ship with the Raid Manager application to allow administrators to use any browser to proactively manage, configure and monitor the platforms.
