AC&NC and Sony Electronics to Show JetStor II RAID at NAB´99 Trade Show

PITTSBURGH, April 5, 1999 /PRNewswire/ -- Advanced Computer & Network Corporation (AC&NC) today announced that it will showcase its new JetStor II RAID array with the Sony DVA-1100 DVD pre-mastering system in the Sony booth (#L16730) at NAB `99 in Las Vegas, April 19-22.

"We are very excited that Sony has chosen to demonstrate our new JetStor II RAID as an integral part of the DVA-1100 DVD pre-mastering system," said Gene Leyzarovich, President of Advanced Computer & Network Corporation. "Our new product will enable Sony's customers to acquire high performance data storage at a very competitive cost."

The DVA-1100 DVD Authoring System utilizes Sony's unique MPEG-2 encoding and control algorithms to provide high-quality images and simple, automated operation. To create titles that cover the full range of options allowed in the DVD format, Sony's system includes individual software and hardware modules optimized to work as separate, yet fully integrated applications.

According to Robert Coleman, vice president of production and post production for Sony Electronics' Broadcast and Professional Company, Sony is seeing an increase in the workload at existing DVD authoring studios due to rapid market penetration of consumer DVD hardware and software. There is also an increased interest for new entries and demand for higher picture quality and productivity. The DVA-1100 DVD Authoring System's GUI guides users through the involved menu authoring operations in a simple and user-friendly way.

"The DVA-1100 system provides for configuration from a single PC system to a multi-PC system to meet the varied needs of our customer base," Coleman said. "The JetStor II RAID, which Sony will offer as the SMR-2200 within our system, will allow us to configure a single seat system that maintains all the benefits of our DVD pre-mastering applications at an entry-level price."
