FC SAN Storage

An FC SAN storage system, or fibre channel storage array, enables multiple servers to access network storage devices. A storage area network enables high-performance data transmission between multiple storage devices and servers.

DAS / SAS Storage

Direct Attached Storage (DAS) is a storage unit directly attached to your workstation or server. With AC&NC’s powerful JetStor direct attached storage (DAS) solutions, your servers will react faster, your database queries will execute more rapidly and you’ll have more productive and happier users.

NAS / Unified Storage

AC&NC provides full product line up of Network Attached Storage (NAS) systems that are all built for reliability and ease of use. AC&NC also offers combined NAS and Storage Area Networks (SAN) into a single unified storage system, allowing for a consolidated storage and network environment.

JBOD Storage

Storage for data, documents, hardware, software, and networking is a necessity in any business. Just a Bunch of Disks (JBOD) is one system among storage solutions you can find and pick up at AC&NC.

JBOD Storage System

Whereas some configurations involve partitioning, a JBOD storage system combines the drives into larger unit volumes. JBOD is a multilevel configuration of disks. It can be referred to as a monolithic storage array”, meaning that the disks, connected through cache memory, are attached to the frame as an array. A JBOD array can be built with a variety of disks from various vendors and of various sizes. With careful architecture, these can be combined and configured to appear to be working as if they were one single disk. Because of this, they can provide the power of higher capacity to users.

Previously thought to be “rag-tag” and “cheap”, this older option has evolved, making it an increasingly popular and viable solution in a variety of computing environments. They are ideal for archiving data, storing video or other media files, replacing tape storage, and retrieving data quickly. They are also great when large amounts of data need to be written and stored. If you are in search of a direct method that is efficient and located on your site, JBOD may be a great solution for your business.

JBOD systems are fairly inexpensive, especially with a good engineer and handful of the right disk drives laying around. Simply put them together in a multibay server and you have just extended your storage space. This scalability also helps avoid waste and reduces the clutter associated with utilizing multiple external drives. Because access is easy, you install additional space quickly, enhancing scalability. Read and write speeds are also faster. While great for minimizing data loss as well as recovering missing files, JBOD depends on the management of the operating system and if the JBOD fails within its enclosure.

One of the biggest drawbacks to the use of a JBOD drive array is a lack of redundancy. If data is lost, it may be difficult to recover if recovery is even possible. Additionally, performance may be lower than other types, even though the read and write speeds are faster, making it a better choice as secondary versus primary storage. Because recovery is questionable, you don’t want to use it for vital data that you can’t stand to lose.

Contact us at AC&NC so we can help you find the system or device that is “just right” for you! Let us get you started with a great storage solution!
